Mel V. Velarde Receives Top Taxpayer (ONETT) Award for 2009 from Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Velarde, Inc. was recently awarded by the Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) as Top ONETT Taxpayer for BIR Revenue Region (RR) No. 8, with the highest tax payment for calendar year 2009. The Top ONETT Taxpayer Award is given to the one that paid the highest amount of tax for a “one time transaction”. BIR Revenue Region 8 covers the Philippine financial capital including the cities of Makati, Pasay, Muntinlupa, Paranaque, Las Pinas, Taguig, and Pateros. Established in October 1999, Velarde, Inc. is the holding company that acts as the vehicle for most of Mr. Mel V. Velarde’s investments. The Plaque of Recognition was received by Mr. Mel V. Velarde on behalf of Velarde, Inc. on the occasion of RR-8 Makati Tax Campaign Launching at the Makati Sports Club on February 5, 2010. The other company that was given a similar award as Velarde, Inc. on the same occasion was the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), a company established in 1973.
