Welcome to the People Power 2 Digital Library CDROM, the inaugural volume of the PhilippineDigitalLibrary.com

This CDROM edition is a compilation of the most significant multimedia content extracted from the People Power 2 Digital Library that has been available on the Internet atpeoplepower2.channelone.tv. This interactive multimedia documentary – video, text, sound and pictures – contains coverages of major events that started on October 5, 2000 — with the speech of Sen. Teofisto Guingona Jr. accusing then President Joseph Estrada for committing grave impeachable acts — up to January 20, 2001 when Vice-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo took her oath as the 14 th President of the Philippines.

One Hundred Eight Days of People Power 2 – the way it happened and the people who made it happen. Capture the eloquence of a senator delivering the now famous “I Accuse” speech (read its full text). Listen to a repentant governor, once engaged in illegal gambling, making his first public press conference and accusing the 13 th President of the Philippines as “the lord of all Jueteng lords.”

Listen to the fiery speeches delivered during rallies. See the thousands upon thousands of street parliamentarians desperately seeking for truth and justice. Relieve the drama and suspense of the Senate Blue Ribbon committee hearings and the Senate Impeachment Trial. Analyze the evidence presented and make your own judgment. Discover how Filipinos in Europe, America and other parts of the world have spontaneously and uniformly manifested in their rallies a common and unified cry for leadership change in the Philippines. See and hear the empowered vigilance of the Filipino youth as they tried to secure a better future for them in the glorifying moments of People Power 2. Watch the inauguration of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the now historic EDSA Shrine and the triumphant celebration of People Power 2.

“Resignation is good for your soul.” “I will not resign.”  “The military is not loyal to any individual.”

“Even the best actor knows when to take his final bow.” “We cannot have a country run by a thief.” “I was one foot away.” “Hindi kinakain ang ice tea.” “Binubugbog niya ako.” “We must be bold in our national ambitions.” These are now famous and never to be forgotten words.

How would you like to interact with history and know the who, what, where, and how of all these events in full motion video, text, pictures and sound? With the scanned documents, evidence, transcripts and other material information at your fingertips?

With over 40 GB of information and more than 200 hours of streamed digital video content, the digital library simply asks you to point and click and you will experience history all over again. The youth of today and tomorrow prefer a more active and participative mode of interactivity especially when learning from the lessons of the past or reinventing the future. This library will serve as a living reminder of values of our heritage whenever we have to make a stand, tell the truth, fight for justice or reclaim our freedoms and democratic ideas as our birthright.

This library is a work in progress. We need your support to make it richer, a more accurate and truly relevant to our daily lives. This is our way of sharing the values of our heritage with our countrymen and other peoples of the world.

Like People Power 2, let’s make this library become another product of our collective genius.
